In 1994 the Akwesasne Area Management Board (AAMB) became incorporated with a nine-person Board to oversee the operations. Distinct from the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA), currently we are one of 18 Area Management Boards in Ontario. AAMB is governed by a Board of Directors that is elected from the AAMB General Membership. Indigenous Agreement Holders delivers indigenous labour market programs through an extensive network of service points across Canada. The AAMB is a Primary Agreement Holder. The staff at the AAMB are dedicated to the individual clients we serve as well as promoting our community’s economic stability.
Our Partner organization Akwesasne Employment Resource Center (AERC) was created as a joint venture project in 2009. The AAMB and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe are two major contributors who continue to support the ongoing operations of the AERC. We also received support from the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and Mohawk Nation Council of Chiefs to create a central resource center that would serve the entire community, and “Connect to the World of Work”.
